Many people and unaware of the bed bug risk that is present all around them. While most people would agree that bed bugs are most commonly found in hotels/motels, they don’t know that they could just as easily find bed bugs on their way to work, in their leisure time or in the classroom. This year for bed bug awareness week AZEX wants to shed some light on some of the “lesser known” places where bed bugs are commonly found.
Are you planning to move this year? Are you buying a new home or moving into a new rental or apartment? These times can be very stressful, especially if you unintentionally walk into a bed bug infestation! AZEX Pest Solutions is here to help you keep your moving experience bug free by offering K-9 inspections and heat treatments.
6 tips to make sure that you stay bed bug free throughout your move:
Schedule a K-9 inspection before you purchase a home or sign a lease agreement. A pre-inspection will tell you if bed bugs are hiding in the walls, under carpets or in cracks and crevices in the walls where it is difficult to see. If bed bugs are detected during the inspection, a heat treatment can be applied to eliminate the bugs.
Humans have been trying to eliminate bed bugs for 100’s of years. We have tried many different elimination methods, some of which have almost proven successful. But, over the years we have learned another lesson; bed bugs are extremely hardy and adaptable. Traditionally exterminators have used chemical treatments to kill the bugs. While this worked for many years, bed bugs have since developed a resistance to these chemicals and continued to thrive. With every new chemical substance that we introduce into our bed bug arsenal, not only do bed bugs evolve, we also damage the environment in the process. Here are some of the dangers that pesticides pose to our health and the health of our environment:
Last year for Bed Bug Awareness Week we talked about general bed bugs facts and tips to keep bed bugs from hitching a ride home with you. You can read that article here. This year we want to raise awareness about bed bugs by educating the public about ways to kill and detect bed bugs that actually work. So many people either don’t treat the problem or try dangerous DIY treatments because of lack of money or knowledge. By reading this article we hope to shed some light on just how easy bed bug elimination can be with the right exterminator.
For the people that find bed bugs in their home or business, panic is often the first reaction. Tiny bugs crawling on your skin and feeding off your blood isn’t the way anyone wants to wake up! While bed bugs are not known to spread diseases, their presence in your home can cause other medical issues and attempting to kill them can introduce dangerous chemicals and fumes into the air that can be dangerous to you, your family, and your pets.
Bed bugs inhabit every country on the planet, will feed on anyone, and can live in many climates. They usually hide during the day and come out at night to feed on our blood while we sleep. They cause sleepless nights, pain and itching (at the site of bites) and paranoia. Many people find themselves asking where did they come from? How did they get here? The history of bed bugs is long, dating back at least 3,000 years. People have used many ways to rid themselves of these unwanted pests, and even tried to find ways to use them to cure medical ailments.

If you have a termite problem in your home, don’t panic. There are effective measures, such as termite baiting, to control termites.
Safe Pest Control
Standard pest management methods for eliminating subterranean termites involve applying toxic chemicals to your home, your soil, or both. And “tenting” — basically wrapping and fumigating your entire home — is the most common way to dispatch drywood termites. The good news is many of the termite control methods available today are just as, if not more, effective than the toxic exterminations.
